Alumni-Aamupala and Lacybox

On Monday´s lecture we presented our ideas for SSM. Unfortunately I have every Monday my german class at the same time so I wasn´t presenting our ideas this Monday.

Because of my absence I went on Tuesday to listen one of Laurea´s alumni presentation about her life after graduation. This event was called Alumni-Aamupala and it was the first one this semester. There was about 12 students listening. The alumni was Elina Kivisalo. She told about how she has studied and worked abroad and also found love from France. She is a project manager. Her work assignment is to make projects succesful. She told examples of her own life and encouraged us to go abroad. She has always done her work as good as possible. Thats why nowadays she doesn´t even apply for jobs. Employers contact her. When she leaves a job she makes sure they know who she is and makes them almost beg her to stay. In this kind of economical situation that is a really respectable thing. I think this Alumni-Aamupala is great. It is nice to hear from a actual student what they have learned in Laurea and how beneficial they have realised their studies at Laurea have been. We got also coffee and sandwiches. This event was a positive suprise.

After this we left to Tammisto with our team Digi-ESAt. We went to SuperPark Vantaa to film our marketing video. We first checked the places out. Our theme was the Birthday party. That meant we got five 6-year-olds as our actors. Two of them where one of the employees children. These borrowed children were perfect although a bit shy at first. After a half an hour of filming they got used to the camera and some of them wanted to show in every clip. Good choice to pick this theme from our group, the children were cute. Before filming we had time to try the park ourselves. The park was awesome. I had a blast there. So much fun, would go again anytime. I took too many pictures that I can´t post them all so I made a short video of our day there and me trying some things there.

Our ready marketing video will be published on 19th of February. So you will see it on next week´s post. Now our task is to edit, edit and edit and make the best version possible. That is super fun. I would be interested in working with something that involves video making and editing in the future.

On Friday we had Lynn-Marie Sederlöf-Airisto as our guest speaker. She gave us our next task. It was to make a landing page, a homepage slider, 3 Facebook posts, 3 Twitter posts and 3 Instagram posts. Lacy box is a 1-women enterprise that makes subscription boxes. The boxes include knickers. Like Ilkka said this is a good learning task. I am interested in content production so I´m excited. Let´s see what we come up with. You will see that next week.

Lynn-Marie spoke about different business tools. Hootsuite is a easy tool because you can do your weeks whole posts at once and schedule the posts to be published at different times. Many companies use many different tools at the same time. This all was new information for me. I haven´t even thought there are tools like this. But ofcourse nowadays in our digitalization world there is, stupid me. There is heatmaps to show what is the most interesting and most viewed thing on your site for example. It would be nice to know this about my blog. This tool crazyegg also shows which are the most clicked words. Then there is google analytics what is probably more common for several of us. It shows for example how many visitors your site has. Really useful tools.

Then was the turn for the last thing before weekend. Two of our digital coaches, Mira Niemi and Camilla Fagerström, gave us a workshop about LinkedIn. We had our computers and ipads with us and they showed how to make your profile better. They also told about how useful LinkedIn is. It is a kinda must thing in the worklife. I made my own profile a year ago but I didn´t add one of the most important info there. By this I mean the profile picture. So that I added on January after I hearded we would be using LinkedIn in this study module. At the same time I added personal information, my education, my work experience and my skills. Although I had done this beforehand our Fridays workshop I actually got new information what to add to my profile. So it was good that we had this.
