We had a lecture on Tuesday. We got two different quests. The first one was from Superpark Vantaa. The second one from Suomen Suora Markkinointi. (SSM) SSM is a magazine distributing company that covers about 85% of households across Finland. I got really excited as we were told that we have the opportunity to visit Superpark. It is a inside activity park where you can try really many things. I can wait to get there on Tuesday. We were given a task to do. It had two parts, the first part was to do a social media strategic plan, the second part was to shoot a video at Superpark and market it. The video is going to be awesome. You will see it on the 21th of this month. We got another task as well from SSM. The task was to think what SSM could do for its employees who are mostly youngsters. Should they change something on their social media? Should they offer different jobs for their employees? Not so easy task but interesting. We thought with our group Digi-ESAt about this and will present our ideas on monday. So you will hear about them on next week´s post. Here is some pictures.

I took this picture because I thought about how many companies have the same kind of marketing strategy. I mean they start marketing their company/event always before winter break or summer vacation. Why not invent something new? Okay easy said than done. But what if there would be a space for something new. I don´t know myself what it could be but there must be something. Can you understand what I am trying to say with this? Maybe I´m trying to say that you need to be different than your competitors. But I don´t mean to give up on the marketing before for example christmas. It is a fact that people have more time on vacations and that is why they do more things together then.

Some challenges for SuperPark Vantaa. I think these are really good and realistic. The quest speaker asked us about their social media account. They have now 3 different accounts but would it be better to connect them together? YES. Definitely should at least their Facebook account. I think that Instagram and Snapchat could be separate from each other but Facebook joint.

Our quest speaker from SSM had really good points in his presentation. This picture for example. "There is no digital strategy anymore, just strategy in a digital world." The world has changed and is going to change so why speak about a digital strategy when it no longer is one. He talked about how can employers make their employees feel proud about their work and also get inspired of it. When I think about my previous jobs none have maked me inspired. So for me that tells something about the jobs, not for me. The job I want to do got to inspire me and I want to be proud about it. I am sure I will find it somewhere. Also Simon Sinek´s -"Start with why" is amazing. Please watch it.
Then on Thursday we had a lecture by Anna Ikonen. She told about cultures. There are many different cultures. Not just between land or behaviour but almost in anything. For example between schools like Laurea and Aalto. She told great experiences from her own life. The cultural differences might be funny between lands. But it is extra important to know some culture before you go to a new country. In worst case you might insult someone by accident and they might not be able to tell you it. Anna told that she asks if she finds something strange in behaviours towards her. That is a really good thing to do. It is better to ask and not only think by yourself. Like the iceberg model shows you really don´t know much without asking.

This cultural model of Richard Lewis was interesting. I am so curious about learning new things. I would love to travel around the world and learn about different cultures. This model makes it easier to understand other people with different culture. I´m from Finland so by looking this model I am linear-active.

That was this week. See you next Sunday.
